Clef Notes!
What is a Clef / Cleff?
A Clef is a musical symbol which is assigned to a Staff, right at the beginning.
When you assign a
Clef to a Staff, specific pitches get assigned to the notes on the lines and spaces. The musical notes on the five lines and four spaces will be assigned pitches corresponding to that Clef.
The two clefs that are commonly used for playing the piano are known as the
Treble clef and the
Bass clef.
The "Treble Clef", also known as "G-Clef", is the most recognized clef. This is because the treble clef notes depict the melody...that is what you need to know to play any song.
The other clef which is used in piano is the "Bass Clef", also known as "F-Clef". Bass clef notes are the harmonizing notes, used by composers to harmonize the melody.
