Piano Adventures Method
What Does It Cover?
Piano Adventures method by Nancy and Randall Faber!
Another teaching method reviewed here!
If you look at the qualifications of the authors, one would imagine that the faber piano methods would be one of the most outstanding method books available for piano.
Nancy Faber (one of the authors) is an
award winning composer and pianist and Randall Faber (Nancy's husband) is a performer and lecturer.
So the expectations from them would have been great. To some extent they have lived up to it as you will soon find out.
Piano Adventures Method
Highlights!
The Fabers' website summarizes their teaching philosophy as follows:
The Fabers advocate piano study not only for personal expression and performance success, but also as a vehicle for the student’s creative and cognitive development.
The faber and faber methods have been a popular and highly promoted piano teaching method. The beginning methods in the faber and faber methods have been fairly popular with teachers who are just starting out with their teaching career.
Some of the things that I like about the faber piano adventures books is that you have lots of
original lesson music, even for beginning levels and the music is available in a wide variety of styles

My views on these!
For a teacher has just started out teaching, the Faber and Faber beginning books can serve well; since it gives you a structured series of books to teach your students.
On the other hand, the number of books at various levels seems to be a lot more compared to other method books. There are chances that the students may get bored if they do not see newer concepts being taught for a long time.
We can hope that the future books in this series are consolidated so that we have fewer books, which in turn would also be it more
cost effective.
