Piano Major Chords!
Piano Major Chords - A chord is basically a group of notes played together. The number of notes involved and the distance between the notes (AKA intervals) actually determines what the chord is called. Basic chords normally involve 3 notes (also known as Triads) and they derive their name from the bottom note (AKA Root Note). Major Chord is one of the basic chords and we will be learning more about it here.
Construction of a Piano Major Chord
A semitone is the smallest distance possible between two notes on a piano; the distance between C to C# is 1 semitone. We know that a Major chord has 3 notes, so the formula for constructing a Major Chord is as follows.
Distance between the Root Note and the 2nd Note – 4 Semitones
Distance between the 2nd Note and the 3rd Note – 3 Semitones
Another way is to take the Major Scale and take the first, third and the fifth notes of that scale to form the Major Chord.
So if we take the C Major scale, the C Major chord would be C E G using the above two methods.
